I have been in a bit of a slump this week, so I am glad I picked a short story for my blog: even if I didn't feel like reading, this was short enough that I could do it, and in turn I was able to push myself to write this blog entry.
In which I understand why “The Haunting of Hill House” by Shirley Jackson is considered one of the best ghost stories of the 20th Century.
I picked up this book after I watched both the 1999 film “The Haunting” and the more recent Netflix TV adaptation, and:
Failed to imagine how the two screen adaptations could be even connected.
Based on what I saw in the TV adaptation, wanted to know how important Nell's isolation was in the original book.
As a sceptic, found interesting how the book was inspired by the story of a real life “paranormal investigation”, of which the author noticed the flaws.
Some notes on the novel “Let the Right one In” by John Ajvide Lindqvist
I have been travelling a lot the past couple of weeks, but thanks to my long commutes, I was still able to finish Let the Right one In (this might be the only perk of train commutes), which I found to be intensely creepy in a good way.
My thoughts on the novel “Ishmael” by Daniel Quinn
I used to be an avid reader, but my life has been so hectic recently, and filled with not-so-good events, that I abandoned reading for quite a long time now.
